The Early Years - Alan Miller Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoCrater: I am regretfully archiving this cache as the land owner / manager has contacted us and has requested the cache be removed from this location. The management of the lands on which this cache is located has changed from the BLM to the Reno Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) - Hungry Valley Lands. They do not wish any geocaches within their managed lands. The boundary of the now off-limit area may be found here: https://rsic.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=fa51ea467ab646fe8bb1a1ad72f64edf

I would ask that you visit the location of your cache and remove the physical container at the earliest possible time.

Thanks for understanding,

Geocache Description:

The Oakland Raiders began play in 1960 as part of the American Football League, before the merger with the NFL. During this period, each one of these players played for the Raiders at one time.

This is not a power trail. There are not roads to every cache and driving offroad is prohibited. As you'll see, there have been fires in this area over the years and it wouldn't be good to burn this valley in the name of geocaching.

Remember, everyone plays the game their own way ... cut and paste logs are very encouraged!

Alan Miller (born June 16, 1937, Milford, Connecticut) is a former collegiate and Professional Football fullback. He played collegiately for Boston College (BC). Like many BC athletes, he was signed to a professional contract by the American Football League's Boston Patriots, playing for them in their first year of existence, 1960. In 1961, he was traded to the AFL's Oakland Raiders, and was a 1961 AFL All-Star. He played for the Raiders through 1964.

Miller, who attended law school at Boston University, became an attorney and a noted sports agent, with many professional automobile racers using him as a client. Controversy erupted in 2007 when Kyle Busch broke from Miller, believing that Miller's dealings forced him out at Hendrick Motorsports, but in 2008, Miller was indicted as part of the situation that resulted from the death of his client, Greg Moore, in 1999. Following Moore's death, Miller hastily rewrote Moore's contract for Moore's replacement, Hélio Castroneves, which led to a tax trial involving Castroneves. Currently, Miller also represents as agent NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, Sprint Cup drivers Casey Mears and Clint Bowyer, legal counsel for Sprint for its NASCAR sponsorship, IRL driver Danica Patrick, and American LeMans Series teams Fernandez Racing and De Ferran Motorsports.
