What does the name Geldhart mean? It's a pseudonym that I have been using for years. I don't really know why I came up with it, but when I was 10 years old, I played a series of computer games called "Ultima". In Ultima 4, when choosing a character name, the letters G E L D H A R T flew across the keyboard, and my alter-ego was born.
But does Geldhart actually mean anything? The answer may surprise you.
Recently, one of my contacts who has sent me traveling around Canada doing IT consulting (with lots of time to go caching in far away places afterward) has asked me to submit a resume for a potential two or three month project in Germany. This has led to me learning some phrases in German, so naturally, I checked out the syllables in my name.
Consider this common phrase in German when going out with friends:
Haben Sie Geld?
A geocacher might have this to say about an Olemaz cache:
Das ist eine harte Cache
The Dutch version of "geld" is the same as German, but "hart" is a bit different:
Mijn hart is vol van liefde voor mevrouw Geldhart
And now you know the story of where Geldhart came from, and what it actually means. Or do you?
