Shakespeare Rock is one of my favorite spots in Tahoe. The famous promontory directly south of Glenbrook was first named in 1862. The wife of Reverend J.A. Benton, while sketching mountain backdrops, noticed a deep cut in the side of the bluff situated above Glenbrook, a pioneer settlement. On further study she saw an unusual likeness to the original Chandos portrait of William Shakespeare.
You will notice that the trail forks just before you reach the cache. I placed it within 15ft of the trail to the top. You should find it in a Jif if you look in the closest Manzanita bush uphill from the sharp and pointy stump.
I placed caches like breadcrumbs on my favorite trail to the top. I highly recommend you get all the Shakespeare caches. The entire trail is less than a mile and the elevation gain is less than 700ft. It took me two hours to place them all, but you could spend many more exploring the area. This is only the 2nd of five. Follow the trail to the next (hole in the wall).
