Geocache Description:

We have decided to take the plunge and organise our first event. Please join us for coffee at the Mangrove River Cafe from 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturday 11th September.

It has been a little while since we had the chance to get together and swap caching stories so here is an opportunity to meet and greet other cachers. It would be also be great to meet some of the new local teams that have just started caching. If you haven't yet been to an event and want to experience something different and also get the opportunity to meet other cachers, swap stories, TBs and Geocoins then please come along.

We are heading to the United States in October and are willing to take any small trackables that would like to travel. On our last trip we started Beauges' and VolKanyo's geocoins on their race back to Bunbury. If anyone would like to start a similar race or have a trackable released then bring it along. Be aware that we will be going through US airports and they are very touchy about what comes into the country, so choose your item carefully.

Why come to Bunbury?
If meeting the locals teams isn't enough of an incentive....there are currently 195 caches within 30km of Bunbury. These range in size from nano to ammo and in difficulty from easy-peezy to completely cunning. There are traditional, multi's, unknowns, letterbox hybrids, a virtual and an earthcache. In other words, something for everyone! So why not make a weekend of it?
We also have 61 waymarks within 11 kms that can be visited if you would like to branch out into Waymarking.

Planned events
  • Be sure to sign the official Log Book when you arrive
  • Collect a name tag.
  • There will be labelled containers for 'Drop-off and pick-up trackables', 'Discovery only trackables' and 'To be taken to the USA'.
  • If you have any personal Geocoins that you would like to trade or sell please bring them with you. I will have ten of the 'Bunbury's First To Find Hounds Geocoin available and other teams may bring more of them. Feel free to advertise in your log if you are bringing any coins along.
  • We are having a 50 cent raffle with the prizes being caching items. Be sure to buy some tickets from the table. This raffle will be drawn at 11am and you need to be there to collect your prize. The monies go towards starting our next raffle.
  • At about 11am we will have a group photo too.

What to do
If you are able to come please log your intention as 'will attend' and indicate how many (adults and children) will be in your group. I need to let the cafe know approximate numbers by Wednesday 8th September.

Local Teams...
If you have a cache or two that you have been planning to put out and haven't quite got there yet...please consider having it ready for this weekend. The more the merrier!

Hope to see you there.

Update - September 4

The Raffle
More details on the raffle...There are five prizes. The person whose ticket is drawn first gets to have first pick of the following prizes -
Prize A - A black ammo tin
Prize B - An unactivated geocoin
Prize C - An unactivated trackable
Prize D - A geocaching sticker
Prize E - A black plastic cache container, ready to be placed.

Update - September 7
We have had a huge response to this event...far better than anticipated...which is great however a problem has arisen with catering. I have been to see the Cafe owners and it appears that we will have a long table for 25 and will then over flow onto other tables, if and when they are available. This isn't the ideal situation and I apologise for this. It is very hard to get somewhere to take bookings without charging a fee for the room. Hopefully it will work out but please bear with us if it is a bit crowded. If the day is nice and sunny we can overflow out onto the verandah too.
