Geocache Description:

Stilwell is located in Peterborough just off the London road ( A15) between the roundabout near Jewson and the traffic light crossing. If you’re coming into Peterborough it’s your first left after the fly over, and if you’re going out of town it’s a right turn straight after the crossing with no lights, once you’re through all the lights. Or just go with your Satnav. Parking is at N 52 32.893 W 000 15.104

Stilwell is a Local Nature Reserve that surrounds a small fishing lake which was created by the extraction of clay for the local brick works. The track bed which is now the straight part of the footpath is where the wagons would be filled and then pulled along the track (like narrow railway line) by steel cable from the winding house at the end of the line. This winding house was still there when I was a lad, along with two of the small wagons that were down the steep bank, which is now fenced off. The fishing pit was for brick workers and family only and my grandfather and friends worked there so I fished it all the time in my youth but not so much now. Fishermen and women still fish here and dog walkers aplenty, so watch out for the odd muggle.
Wheelchair access and buggy friendly for the most part, but there is a set of steps near the cache.

The cache is a tube 4" (100mm) x 20mm and has just the log sheet so please bring pencil or pen and if you can something to lean on.
I am having ago at something tricky for you so I hope you like it. And I’m sure you will let me know if it’s too easy. No Hints or Clues.

This is a lake with DEEP! Water, so please, please take care and don’t take your eyes of your kids.

A Big thank you O&H Hampton for your kind permission for this cache.

Have fun and good hunting.
