Geocache Description:

This is the first cache in the “Things to do in Keysborough - Easy Keysy” family series. All four can easily be found in a couple of hours. They are close to bike paths so bring the children, pack the bikes and have a great time.

The Keysborough Scout Hall was put in place in 1989. The building was originally a Uniting Church and still resembles a church in many ways. When you visit, have a look at the window on the west side, which would certainly delight an iconographer. At first glance, you’d mistake it for the stained glass window of a church, but the icons are all scouting symbols. You will see an old style cub hat, commonly known as a “salt and pepper shaker hat” and the “lemon squeezer” Scout hat made famous by Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting. In addition, you will see the familiar world-wide scouting symbol, the fleur-de-lis.

A scouting friend recently described Geocaching as “where geek meets the outdoors … a bit like Scouting”. Scouting is alive and well in this area. If you are interested in Scouting, contact Bentleigh Scout Centre on 03 8575 4000, or email bentleigh@vicscouts.asn.au. (Tell them PoleCat S sent you.)

“Be prepared” for a bit of fun with this easy cache, but keep a watch out for mini-muggles who are known to frequent the area. Bring a pen as this is a micro.

Congratulations to Spladem, mr_x_02 and diablo1234 for being equal first-to-find on 31 July 2010.
