Coyote's Howl-O-Ween Event Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

CoyoteTrust: Thanks to all ghosts and goblins who attended – even if your costume was ‘in spirit’. It was nice to see the familiar faces and meet some new folks. I’m sorry if our time was short and/or I missed you before you headed out.

I thank YOU for making this event successful in the ways you contributed to it. We had about 40 “physical attendees”; that is, not everyone who showed up actually logs their finds/attendance online. The temp caches had a good number of visitors, and the 3-Day Fire actually burned closer to 90 hours

TKD and I did not win the costume contest, InkyAtari’s tasty chili did not win a chili contest prize, and the majority of our group missed out on the Haunted Trail Walk; but these were a few of the many good times apparently had by all.

Other membership campers/staff commented how nice, great, and pleasant our group was, especially for being so big. So I appreciate that and again thank you for attending & making this event what it was.

It’s too hard to tell what future circumstances will be, so I can’t promise this will happen again next year – but I’ll let ya’ know.

Geocache Description:

As a member of the “Indian Creek Ranch” campground, I invite you as a guest to attend my event and the campground’s Halloween Weekend festivities (October 8 – 9 -10). This is the campground’s most popular weekend; it is very much an adult- and kid-friendly outing. It is located at 2805 Conley Road (about 5 miles SW of Morris, IL).

THE DETAILS:

While Saturday is the primary day for this event (and the Campground’s activities), you may arrive on Friday & stay through Sunday, or visit at any time in between. Log a smiley for each day you attend! This event will go on regardless of weather. Recommend you bring a folding chair or two, but we'll have some seating available. You are also welcome to bring just a sleeping bag, tent, or a camper (fees apply, read on).

Campground Entry:
You must stop at the Campground Office (denoted in the Additional Waypoints). Here you’ll obtain a visitor’s pass. Provide your real name, vehicle make/model, license plate number, the site you are visiting, and the length of your stay. As the event date approaches, I will provide attendees with our specific site number, actual campsite coordinates, and directions.

Campground Vehicles / Speed Limits:
You’ll see many golf carts and ATV’s, but these are membership campers’ vehicles. Please do not bring any motor vehicles other than the one you came in. If you want to bring a bicycle, you may (knobby or hybrid tires recommended). Also, the campground is pretty serious about their speed limit. Please obey & basically don’t step on the gas pedal.

Camping / Staying Overnight:
The event coordinates are an open field near our campsite; if you bring a camper or tent, this is where you’ll make camp. Along the forested edge of the field are 2 electric & water hook-ups, but these are available on a 1st-come, 1st-served basis for any campground guest. Otherwise you may still use the field without the amenities.

Fees for Camping/Staying:
- $30 per night for an RV/camper
- $15 per night for a tent
- Free! If you can squeeze your camper/tents on our site; there is some room
- Free! If you want to stay the night (but don’t have a camper/tent), there is some room within our camper itself (Update 9/24/10): We’ll have to say two is the limit, though. Recommend you bring a sleeping bag, pillow, etc.

Hygiene Conscious?
Showers/bathrooms are near our campsite & the field sites (denoted on the Additional Waypoints). These facilities are open to all.

ATTENDEE INFO and SCHEDULE:

Unless you are actually going to camp, please note there are no fees per person/family to enter the campground as my guest, and there are no set visitor hours/time limits.

Please RSVP if you are planning to attend! I will send you campsite-specific separately. Sorry, but I will not post that info on any public webpages.

RSVP logs should provide the number of guests in your party and whether you plan to use a tent/camper, or otherwise stay overnight.

This event is more-so a get together, and in years past my guests & I have basically followed the campground’s event schedule. All guests are welcome to partake in their festivities. The generalized, tentative schedule is:

For Kids: Trick-or-Treating walks, costume party, costume contest with prizes, lunch, pumpkin carving contest

For Adults: A live band, costume party, costume contest, chili cook-off.

For All: A bonfire, “bags” tournament, Golf Cart decoration contest & parade, Campsite decoration contest, and the scary Haunted Trail Walk, in which yours truly may be your guide.

I can’t promote campground events on this listing. (10/12/10) However, HERE IS WHAT YOU MISSED!. Since this is still a geocaching event, we can mix it up a little. Read on:

CT’s Three-Day Fire:
Most of the campground notices my sizeable fire burning safely & mostly non-stop at our campsite. It’s always nice to hang out & share stories around the fire at any time of day/night. Deadfall is plenty, so we’ll never run out!

Costumes:
Childrens’ costumes probably go without saying. While adult costumes are not required, they’re encouraged. CT does not want to be the sole alter-ego, and you can change into that alter ego at a later time during the event, like at moonrise or something. Plan now! Below, some of my previous guests were kickin’ it “Old Style”!

Food and Drinks:
The nearby Campground Club serves beverages & snack foods, and I will provide a small assortment of snacks and various beverages. However, please bring food/drinks for your crew as you see fit. For those who have a cuisine specialty to show off, by all means bring your spatula. Grills are available at the Club as well as at our campsite. Additionally, Morris has plenty of ‘grab and go’ places for food and it’s only 5 miles north.

Geocaching?
There will be at least two temporary caches placed with permission in the campground. You'll be able to log finds on them via a specific GC waypoint I'll provide during the event.

PLEASE BE MY GUEST AND COME OUT!

Remember, you can “Attend” starting on Friday night through Sunday Evening. Adults & kids alike will have a nice time with all the generalized hootin’ and/or hollerin’, as it were.

Questions? Contact me through the GC website. Please watch this listing for schedule/activity updates.
