Geocache Description:

Tribute Cache to WW2 efforts. Ammo Box.

This is an easy find to landmark a world war two platoon harbour. A Platoon harbour is when an Ausrtralian platoon of 30 soldiers (3 ten man sections), dig in for the night to hold a secure location. There may be more WW2 history associated with this site, but about 8 years ago I was lucky enough to see the remnants of an AA gun enplacement at this site, and rock protection in a standard platoon harbour formation. Unfortunately the new power line has used the rock remanants as fill for the power poles. The only evidence of the AA gun enplacement is a depression next to the top of the road cutting. If you hunt this cache after the area has been burnt out, you will be rewarded with finding the stone arrangements that are remanants from WW2 diggers setting up their platoon harbour. Note the defences all faced north to defend the attack that never came. Cache has been loaded with cool swaps for FTF!
