From Estacada, take 224 to 46 at Ripplebrook, then travel eight miles and turn right on 6350, go five miles and turn left on 6355, and the trailhead is 0.2 miles on your right.
From Detroit, take the Breitenbush Road #46, traveling just over 17 miles to Rd #6350, turn left, and in about 5 miles turn left again at #6355 at a four way junction towards Cachebox Meadows. In two tenths of a mile at the junction with #150 look to the right for the trailhead.
This ammo can was going to replace the old Hawk Mt. Lookout Cache, but everything changed when I arrived at the cabin and started going through the log book inside.. While reading through all the previous hikers experiences I finally got to the last page and guess who signed one day earlier..."Those Estacadians!!" LOL!!
Knowing there was no way that The Estacadians came up here to "NOT" hide a cache, I started my search and within a very short amount of time I had an ammo can in hand.. Sure enough it was a new log book, but had not been a published cache yet. Now I needed a new place for my ammo can, so I thought why not place one along the trail to the lookout...This should be a quick find along the way, the cache is hidden no more than 15 feet from the trail. Please be sure to cover it back well...
If you have'nt visited the Hawk Mt. Lookout, it is well worth the effort to get up there.. It is an easy hike right at 4 miles round trip, with stunning views along the way.
Congratulations chaosbooboogunner & Sailorsarah for the FTF!!!
