Geocache Description:


Topography Map from 1954This journey takes you along the Connecticut River near South Windsor. Located near the cache once stood the largest Podunk Indian settlement. The village was comprised of 200 acres, a fort and was home to over 400 Indians in the 1600s. Violent epidemics spread by the white settlers likely led to the demise ot the Podunk Indians.

You can either park at the boat ramp and get ther by water or walk along North King Street (see map). Should you take the latter route, do not venture off the road until you get to the river as this is private property. Please, park at the coordinates provided and do not block the gate or you will upset the neighbors.

This is a well-stocked, regular cache capable of holding the larger travel bugs. Please help keep it this way; remember, a travel bug does not count as a trade item.
