Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed as part of the Historic Ruthin Series. The series aims to highlight the history of Ruthin whilst providing information on specific areas. The cache containers are almost all nano's set in interesting locations around the town. We hope you enjoy the series and the area.

The re-development of Ruthin Craft Centre is located on the existing site and is a dynamic zinc and cast stone building with undulating roofs to echo the surrounding Clwydian hills. It was made possible by Lottery funding and completed in 2008. One of the main features within the car park is the old goods crane near the entrance. This is a reminder that the site used to be the Ruthin Railway Station. It served the town between 1862 and 1962 and was the main headquarters of the Denbigh, Ruthin and Corwen Railway. It had two platforms, a bay siding and a goods shed that opened into a second bay platform. The station was demolished shortly after its closure. Parking for any of the Ruthin caches can be found at the Ruthin Craft Centre (details below). This is a public car park and is free unlike others in town. The rest of the Series
