The “spring check” in 2019 will be the last of the regular formal checks at this location; hereafter, we will visit only when we are informed in a log or personal e-mail that maintenance is needed - so please keep us informed!
Thanks to eagle416 for the idea!
We solved a cache created by eagle416 - very similar to this one - in preparation for visiting another part of the country - Alberta, to be precise - and, since we had seen nothing like it so far in our region, decided to provide one for “local” cachers. We hope that this will provide a little fun for those who like to play with numbers! It’s not as hard as it may appear but it takes a little thinking - hence the difficulty rating. The “degrees numbers” are correct for both north and west - i.e. 44 and 078 for north and west respectively. However, the five “minutes digits” are actually 1, 3, 4, 8 and 9 (for north) and 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (for west). They are correct - except that they have been “scrambled” from what they should be. However, there has been no scrambling from north to west - just within the five digits of those given for each of north and west.
Your job: find the right combination of each (e.g. 13.489 and 34.567) which will give you the product upon multiplication of 677.707006. The number of possibilities appears enormous but a little clear thinking should eliminate most of those possibilities quite quickly.
- How to check your answer? Only one combination gives you the stated product!! Honest - we checked it!
- Do bring your own writing utensil, please!
- For some reason the GPSr was changing during the creation process but the location was averaged over several hundred trials on each of several occasions over the years - so good luck!
