Geocache Description:

One in a series of caches celebrating the stunning beaches and coves to be found in West Penwith; the Western end of Cornwall.

Portheras beach and neighbouring Boat Cove are situated to the east of Pendeen Lighthouse on the North coast. The beach is a favourite with locals and visitors alike and is usually well covered in sand.

The remains of a ship, the Alacrity, are still visible on parts of the beach and there are some submerged remains that are razor sharp, so care must be taken when swimming.

This beach is not currently covered by the lifeguard service.

Walk downhill from the cache location to get a view of the cove. A walk along the coast path to the east will bring you to the footpath down to the beach itself.

Beware of muggles!
