This cache was put out for Dairy Daze 5 as 1 of 4 saluting the
Dairy cow breeds.
The Guernsey is the second most popular breed in North
America. It is a long way behind the Holstein in numbers though.
They also are large animals and they produce less milk but it is
much higher in fat content. The fat or butter fat content is the
part of the milk used to make cheese, butter, yogurt, etc. so it is
the valuable part of the milk.
Guernseys are a more calm breed than the Holstein and easier to
handle. They are also spotted but in white and redish brown.
