Swamp-a-Llama Ding Dong Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Terpnurse: We were taking our dogs for a walk near this cache and on a whim I thought I'd check on it. Sure enough, the container was missing, but the bag and some old wet swag was still there and replaced under the cammo. So clearly it's been discovered by someone who just really wants to collect the ding dong containers. That's a shame.

So, sadly, I have to bid farewell to this, my very first cache. It had a great run and lasted a lot longer than the original finders thought it would. I placed this the day I found my 100th cache and was very proud of the location and name and container (all of which made sense put together).

Thank you to everyone who found it and the great comments I enjoyed reading!

Geocache Description:

A quick find along a road that's been 'temporarily closed' to auto traffic for at least 10 years. Lots of blackberry brambles, but it's reachable without having to walk into them. Cache container is, well, not *quite* a ding dong, but....

Large enough for log and small trading items. Bring your own writing implement.

Update 9/5/14: This is the third time I've replaced the container itself. Please take a moment and think about the name of the cache and why this particular container is NOT SWAG. The container has the log inside of it. Please keep the log and the container together. The bag in which they reside may hold swag too large for the container and is there to help protect the container from the elements.

When my partner, baesparza and I first started dating, we used to meet halfway between our homes at this very corner to go on long walks around the neighborhood. It seemed an appropriate site to place our first cache (as well as commemorate my 100th find today).

If you're lucky enough to visit this cache on a foggy, misty morning when the Llamas are lurking about the swamp, stand very still and look out across the field. There is an otherworldly, almost primeval feel to the area. Especially early on weekend mornings when there's little to no traffic.

Parking is tricky. You could park at the Skate Park just north of the GZ and walk south, but you'd have to cross a very busy street which can be dicey during rush hour. Or you could park at the less intuitive spot at N 47° 22.996 W 122° 11.107 and walk west to the cache along the 'temporarily closed' street safely.

Crisp-ish $2 bill for the FTF - Congratulations to theDarknyght and WellJointed for co-FTF!! With amazing speed at that!
