Long Distance
As I put together the “Communi-K8” cache (GC2B3Z2) I had a couple of old communications songs rattling about in the vast caverns of my mind. So I thought why not continue the communications theme and do a little series to share some of those old songs with my fellow cachers.
This was the first earworm, “Memphis” by Chuck Berry:
Long distance information, give me Memphis Tennessee
Help me find the party trying to get in touch with me
She could not leave her number, but I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall
Help me, information, get in touch with my Marie
She's the only one who'd phone me here from Memphis Tennessee
Her home is on the south side, high up on a ridge
Just a half a mile from the Mississippi Bridge
Help me, information, more than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her and all the fun we had
But we were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
And tore apart our happy home in Memphis Tennessee
Last time I saw Marie she's waving me good-bye
With hurry home drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
Marie is only six years old, information please
Try to put me through to her in Memphis Tennessee
I hope you enjoy this offering, as I’m sure it will be stuck in your head for a while to come.

Now on to the cache!
Not surprisingly this cache is located in the vicinity of a telephone box, a humble icon which is sadly disappearing from our streetscape.
Telstra has a “use it or lose it” policy and with more active SIMs in Australia than there are people(a statistic that I did not believe until I realised that our little household of three has four active SIMs, albeit one belongs to K8’n’Co), it won’t be long before we can recount the days when we poked coins into a machine to phone home.
But I digress!
