In the summer, this is a nice area to view osprey and other wildlife.
The trail starts at N36 42.239 W106 38.698 with limited parking there. This is in Heron Lake State Park so there is a $5 day fee for parking.
Find the Nature Trail heading north and enjoy nature as you hike in the park. The snag you'll see to the west before you get to the cache is a favorite roost of the osprey.
There'll be a bench near the cache. Placed with permission.
