På en ö med bro . / On an island with a bridge.
Den svenska kungen Oscar den II:e reste den 16:e juni 1873 här på sin färd till Trondheim för att krönas till kung av Norge. Sverige och Norge var på denna tid en union. Oskar hade varit i Söderhamn och tittat på olika industrier och efter det reste han med ångfartyget Bergviken mot Segersta(Landafors). När han kom hit möttes han av timmerflottar, flaggprydda och lövade. Vid Måsholmen paraderade flottare med sina båtshakar och kungen blev så imponerad att han döpte om holmen till "Kungsholmen". Vid Landafors byttes färdsätt till hästjärnväg förbi forsen. Vid stationen "Landa Öfre" där Oskar skulle byta tillbaka till båt stod mängder av ortsbor för att hedra kungen. En skröna säger att kören börjar sjunga "... häng honom, häng honom ..." och så går båten och kungen hör inte fortsättningen (... en lagerkrans ...). Sommarkvällen var skön och färden fortsatte sedan mot Bollnäs. Konungen stod själv på bryggan och tog under någon liten stund t.o.m. rodret.
Idag ägs banan av Landabanans Museijärnväg (www.landabanan.com) som arbetar med ambitionen att återuppbygga en del av Landa hästbana som under tiden 1861-1878 var en viktig transportled i kommunikationsleden Bollnäs-Söderhamn.
1991 köpte föreningen en timmerbyggnad i Bollnäs.
1992 märktes den stora byggnaden upp och transporterades sedan till "Landa Öfre". Sommaren 1993 byggdes och taklades "Landa Öfre", som ett ALU-arbete.
Vid Landa Öfre har Föreningen nu Landaaftnar med tågåkning, kolbullar och lite musik. Det har t.o.m. hänt att ångbåten Warpen lagt till.
Cachen innehåller från början logbok och pennor.

On June 16, 1873 King Oskar II of Sweden traveled here on its journey to Trondheim to be crowned king of Norway. Sweden and Norway was at this time a union. Oskar had been in Söderhamn and looked at different industries and after he traveled with the steamer Bergviken towards Segersta(Landafors). When he arrived he was met by timber floats, decorated with flags and leafs. At Måsholmen the rafts men paraded their boathooks and the king was so impressed that he renamed the island "Kungsholmen" (Kings Holm). At Landafors
the mode of transportation changed to horse railway past the rapids. At "Landa Öfre" (Upper Landa) station where Oskar changed back to boat a lot of locals gathered to honor the
king. One tale says that the choir begins to sing "... hang him, hang him ..." just as the boat left and so the King did not hear the rest ("... a flower wreath ..."). The summer evening was
beautiful and the journey continued by steamer towards Bollnäs. The King himself was on the bridge and even took the helm for a little while.
Today the track is owned by Landabanans Museijärnväg (Landa Museum Railway) (www.landabanan.com) who works with the ambition to rebuild some of Landa horse railway, which during the period 1861-1878 was an important transportation route in the communication Bollnäs-Söderhamn.
1991 the society bought a timber building in Bollnäs.
1992 the building was then taken to the "Landa Öfre".
In the summer of 1993 the building was roofed as part of an ALU-work.
At "Landa Öfre" the society now has "Landa evenings" with train riding, kolbullar (charcoal buns) and some music. It even happened that the steamer "Warpen"stops for a visit.
The cach contains from start log and pens.
