SAINT-ILPIZEest une très belle cité médiévale
agrippée aux flancs d'un rocher basaltique, couronnée des restes de
son château et de son église du XIVe siècle. Elle est reliée à
Villeneuve d'Allier par un élégant pont suspendu.
A l'origine, St-Ilpize était une ancienne place forte
gallo-romaine. Aujourd'hui, le rocher basaltique qui domine
Villeneuve d'Allier est couronné par les ruines de ce château
féodal ayant appartenu aux Dauphins d'Auvergne et à la famille de
La Rochefoucauld.
Son château, illuminé toute l'année, révèle un cadre féerique. Une
poignée d'habitants replantent de la vigne. Les terrasses du
musée-conservatoire sont plantées de nombreuses variétés de cépages
anciens.

SAINT-ILPIZE est a very nice medieval city grabbed in the sides
of a basaltic rock, crowned with the rests of his castle and of its
church of the XIVth century. It is linked up in Villeneuve to
Alloy by a smart hanging bridge.
In origin, St-Ilpize was an ancient Gallo-Roman fortified town.
Today, the basaltic rock which dominates Villeneuve of Allieris
crowned by the ruins of this feudal castle having belonged to the
Dolphins of Auvergneand to the family of Rochefoucauld.
His castle, illuminated all year long, reveals an enchanting
frame. Inhabitants' handle transplant of the grapevine. The
terraces of the museum-conservatory are planted of numerous
varieties of ancient grape varieties.
