Geocache Description:

How many times have you listened to the local weatherman and wondered “Whose weather is being reported because that is not what I see outside the window!” Or, you listen to the forecast and pack a raincoat only to find out that it is a blazing sun all day or you wear a light jacket and a cold biting wind comes from nowhere.

Saskatchewan is known for its extremes in weather. We range from the over 30°C in the summer to -40°C on a frosty January day. We experience torrential downpours, tornados, hail, blizzards, dust storms, sleet, fog, and blazing sun. A favourite saying of my father’s was – “wait 5 minutes and the weather will change.” Our wardrobe is varied and we have been known to put on many layers to keep warm or to wear only the bare necessities to try to keep cool. The cloud formations in our sunsets and during an approaching storm are the main inspirations for our motto - Land of Living Skies, and are a photographer’s joy.

Now is your chance to be a weatherman. When you sign the log book in this cache, it would be appreciated if you record the temperature, wind and other general weather observations at the time. If you like, you can also include it in your on-line log. It will make an interesting record of the weather as it changes in our province.

Take the time as well to enjoy the area around the cache. There has been a number of new information plagues erected along the walkways. Nature abounds in the area and is a nice place to just take a relaxing stroll as you make your way to and from the cache. In the spring the water levels may make the area not accessible for a short time period.

Have fun and like any good geocacher – check the weather before you head out.
