Geocache Description:

The cache is on a pedestrian bridge near Tsu station which name has the shortest pronunciation in Japan.


In Japanese, the name of this station is spelled with only one character, but need 3 alphabets to spell in Roman character. There are some stations with two-alphabet name in Japan (ex. Ii station @ 34.37906, 131.29507), the name of this station is not the shortest with Roman alphabets. Once it was considered to spell the name ‘Z’ and pronounce as [ʦu], but this plan did not accepted officially. The cache is magnetically attached. Please be careful not to drop it.

キャッシュは津駅の近くにある歩道橋に隠されています。
津駅は日本語表記では一文字であり、最も発音の短い駅名を持つ駅として知られています。しかしアルファベット表記では3文字であり、国内に幾つかアルファベット2文字の駅があるため最短の駅名ではありません。かつて、駅名のアルファベット表記を’Z’にして「つ」と読ませることが検討されたようです。しかし、この表記は公式には採用されていません。
キャッシュは磁石で固定してあります。落とさないように気をつけてください。
