The Bridge @ The Bridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TWO HATS: Following a report of problems, I decided to visit and sort this one out today.
Well, I'm afraid it's not possible to get this one up and running again... the Hidey Place has been so badly damaged it's impossible to hide the container and keep it at it's D5 rating.
I'm not prepared to re-instate this one if the tree is going to be damaged in this way just so someone can claim a D5 find.
The cachers that hacked away at the tree should be totally ashamed of themselves... it makes me wonder if I want to be associated with geocaching at all.

DISGUSTING actions like this spoil it for everyone.

Geocache Description:

A Micro sized cache located close to an abandoned Industrial Railway of the 19th Century.
The original cache has been moved to a new less sensitive location around 95m along the footpath.

Once a Thriving Iron works the local area is now dominated by several large companies including Paper Recycling, Heavy Engineering, Car dismantling and Skip Hire.

If you wish to visit the Bridge follow the footpath to the right from the parking area along the paved footpath.
Be careful.. the path becomes VERY slippery when wet.

The "Bridge" can clearly be seen together with its once numerous rail lines on late 19th and Early 20th Century maps.
The Rail head a hundred metres to the West saw small tank engines pulling many narrow gauge trucks to and from the main railway lines located at Riddings and Ironville.. now the end of the Butterley Steam Presevration Society line.
From here the engines had access to the Butterley Engineering Works at Ripley as well as the numerous coal mines in the surrounding area and the Main Railway lines to Sheffield and London.

The Cache is located at the side of a public Footpath
It is not on Private property.
The area is normally Muggle Free but there are workers within a few metres during normal working hours so please try to be stealthy when looking for the cache.
It is no longer accessible by Wheelchair users

Parking available close by but please be careful not to cause access problems to the nearby businesses. Please Don't park at the top of the path.. to do so will partly block access to the Wood merchants premises and cause inevitable Muggle interest.

Intended to be a High Difficulty cache we are not publishing a Hint unless DNF's accumulate. So if you do try and can't find this cache PLEASE log a DNF so we know you have tried.

If you fancy something a lot easier try our other Cache a few hundred yards away. GC2D2KQ The Bridge @ The Bridge #2.
You can walk to this cache by following the path across the Industrial Estate.

Enjoy !!

CONGRATULATIONS TO CAT'S EYE'S AND TWO FAT PIGS FOR JOINT FTF of the Original Cache.
