Some History of the Area

Placed at the side of the original Pinxton Canal at Pye Bridge this cache has been placed to compliment our other cache close by.
This one is Easy to find... the other more Challenging !

The Pinxton canal was an arm of the famous Cromford Canal and carried the products of the famous Pinxton Porcelain company across the globe.

Now filled in the area is undergoing restoration but there are still rewarding walks along the original canal towpath in both directions.

The Bridge has now been filled in for safety but the original Railings are still evident a few feet from the cache.

For those with interest there is plenty of information available on the Internet

If you have a few minutes to spare while in the area the Erewash Canal project and Pinxton Canal Towpath walk which are accessible across the road are well worth a look.
The now reclaimed "Iron Works Pond" a few yards down the canal towpath across the B600 is abundant with aquatic and Bird wildlife.
The full towpath walk takes you through some great Natural scenery ending at Ironville on the approach to Codnor Park Reservoir.

Enjoy your visit !
