StumpJumper #1 - Deer Park Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

Traditional Geocache branded Tupperware on great mountain biking trail in Deer Park.

***Warning - I'm told that there is poison ivy around this cache, please be careful****

Welcome to Deer Park, part of the Alamuchy Mountain State Park. If you are not familiar with this area, it is home to some of the best mountain biking in New Jersey. Mountain biking is the gensis of this cache. StumpJumper, is the name of make of my mountain bike (I ride a Specialized StumpJumper FSR Expert 29). Deer Park is a great beginner-intermediate Mountain biking park and nearby Alamuchy North and Stephens are great for intermediates and up. This cache is a traditional cache in a small, geocache branded Tupperware. The cache itself is not on one of the State marked trails, however, the trail is very easy to walk and you cannot get lost if you stay on the trail. The trail head is beaten down by mountain bikers and it is a dirt single track. Again, EASILY walkable. My son (6 years old) and I hid it together. There is ample parking if you turn off Rt 517 and head down Deer Park Road. Park when you get to the parking area/turnaround. No need to head down the "unmaintained road". The entrance to the trail is at the northwest most point of the parking area. Enjoy the cache, and watch out for the mountain bikers :)

**Please make sure to place cache back exactly as you found it
