Sky Meadows SP Woodpecker Lane Traditional Cache

Another in my series of caches that will bring you to different parts of Sky Meadows State Park. Park in the overflow parking area. There is a $4 daily fee for this park. You can use a volunteer pay envelope here or buy a day pass at the main park entrance. Cache is a medium sized Lock and Lock located just off the trail so take a walk and enjoy the scenery! This is a nice walk that takes you through into a walnut grove that is home to the largest concentration of Red-Headed Woodpeckers in the State of Virginia. Bring a camera and binoculars and see these beautiful birds in their natural habitat. Once you find the cache continue on down the trail for a better chance to see the birds! Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times. There is a small pen in with the log but BYOP just in case.
