The steel was selected to “reflect the steel in the city” and the “fireweed red” colour — the exact tint used on San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge — resembles the clay cliffs throughout the Red Hill Valley.
The pedestrian and cycling bridge links the Red Hill Valley Trail with the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail.
