Roche Abbey #3 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

Follow the sign to Roche Abbey and follow the long, winding, bumpy road to the Free Car Park.

The cache is located in the wooded area NOT in the Abbey grounds. Terrain is suitable for the whole family including dogs but the paths are just earth and not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. It can get muddy in winter or on very rainy days.

Cache is a Small clip lock box and contains the log book, pencil and a few goodies. (Please bring your own pencil just in case...).

The Abbey is a hidden gem! It was founded in 1147. It is a fantastic Cistercian monastery and was ruined in the 1538 dissolution by King Henry VIII. Although in ruin it has a peaceful and tranquil feel to it and well worth a visit!

Parking available which is free at: N53.24.188 W001.11.119 - CAR PARK opens at 6:00am and closes at 6:30pm so just be aware!)

This can be done on it's own or as a series of 5 caches. This is #3 of 5.
