Geocache Description:

In 1960 the City of Prince George built a parade float which featured a huge, moveable figure which was shaped and coloured to represent log construction. The float was featured in the 1963 Grey Cup Parade in Vancouver. The moveable figure was constructed so that it could bend and sit on a flat-bed truck. The float was sent to many parades across the province and as a result it became known as the symbol of the City of Prince George and was called Mr. PG.

It was originally built of wood, however, after a few years it began to decay. In the early 1980’s a new Mr. PG was constructed. The present Mr. PG is made out of steel and fibreglass so that it will last longer. Mr. PG stands 8.13 metres (27 feet) high and symbolizes the importance of the forest industry to our city. Mr. PG is considered to be an important landmark to tourists as well. He was located at the south-east corner of Highways 16 and 97 for quite some time and has recently been moved across to the south-west corner to make way for some development.
