Geocache Description:

Feel free to post long logs, they are appreciated!

No it's not! The cache is at the point where the new bridle way from Anglezarke meets the new footpath from Brinscall. Terrain is easy at this point and can be accessed in most footwear, although six inch heals are not recommended, trust me, I know :). Or was the question about the cache? Yes, it is our first Nano! You will need to bring a pen or pencil.

This is where the old meets the new, meets the old, meets the new, meets the old....... The new footpath starts at Railway road, close to the bottom of Well lane and adjacent to Brinscall baths and is a fairly flat surface, alternating between crush and run and wooden decking. The Goit bridle way is also fairly flat and consists of a crush and run (and horse poo) surface. There is also direct access from Lodge Bank and across that a footpath that goes under the old railway bridge up to Dick lane which finally links up the SOC (Schnuz-Oreo-Cookies) Goit mini circular. The circular walk takes less than an hour as a plain walk, ten minutes a cache would make it approximately two hours. Work is going to start imminently (Monday 16.08.10) to extend the new Goit bridleway to join up with Well Lane. It is going to follow a former cobbled lane that still can be seen in parts (for the moment!) up to the unnamed track that meets the junction of Well lane and Edge Gate lane. Where it will go then is beyond me but from reading some of the notices that were up while the Goit bridleway was under construction the plan is to stretch all the way to Darwen. The work on the new part of the bridleway is expected to last four weeks. The footpaths will remain open but be aware that there will be heavy machinery movement and large deliveries of stone. Past experience would suggest that this may over run, I wouldn't book a horseback trip to Well lane for mid September!

Cheers

Schnuz.
