Welcome to Chincoteague Island,
Virginia’s Island Resort
The adventure begins as you travel over the
causeway to our secluded island. You can feel the stress and
tension leave as you absorb natures wonder, mile after mile of
pristine marsh and wetlands leading to a land of friendly natives,
old fashioned southern hospitality and framed by ocean and
bay.
“Are we going to see the ponies?”
“Can we ride them?” the children ask. “Do they
rent kayaks?” your teenager asks, “Can we go bike
riding?” “Can we ride Go-carts?” The questions
keep streaming as the excitement builds. The answer is yes to all,
there will be more to do on Chincoteague Island than can be
squeezed into a single vacation. On the horizon you can see
Virginia’s famous coastal barrier island with over 14,000
acres of unspoiled beachfront, dunes, marsh and maritime forest;
you know this is going to be a family fun vacation long
remembered.
You begin to catch island fever as you cross the
bridge and descend into the charming village, the channel lined
with fishing boats, a waterfront park on the left and main street
filled with quaint shops, an Art Deco Theater and many inviting
restaurants.
Everyone will have a great time, the week is
going to be filled with surf-fishing, sunbathing, miniature golf,
exploring the maritime forests and hiking trails, bike riding,
shopping, dining and of course GeoCaching.
“We’re here!” the
children shout for joy

As you pass over the causeway from the Mainland
to Chincoteague your adventure begins with this cache.
Not hard by any means but meant to be a Gracious
Welcome as you come to this “Beautiful Island across the
waters”
The small cache you seek is hidden away from
muggles but easily reached, if you know where to look. A pencil has
been added but it’s always good to BYOP.
Some room for small travelers and Micro-Geocoins.
Be a responsible cacher and log all travelers in and out
ASAP.
Parking is provided by way of a paved parking
area with room to stretch and get your first look at the marshes,
waterways and breath in that salty sea air.
This may be one for the Adults to retrieve, with traffic going by
children could wander towards the road way. As Always Use Caution
when caching with Children
Stealth will be determined by the day and time of
your hunt. Be aware that traffic will be going by in both
directions so time your retrieval and placement.
Congratulations to Run&Hike for the FTF
!!
