One of the nicer rest stops along the Mickelson Trail near mile
marker 68. There is a shelter and water available here.
This is the site of the original town of Redfern founded back in
the 1890's.
If any of you have done the Silica Mine cache farther west of Hill
City out by Ditch Creek, you may be surprised to learn this is
where that silica was shipped via truck before it was processed and
sent out on the railroad.
Today, there are ruins of old stores, stables and a railroad car
that is rumored to be an old bunkhouse.
