Geocache Description:


Placed on the Goderich to Auburn Rail Trail near where an old railroad station was located.

This site was the location of the McGaw Station which served Benmiller. It was on a more direct route between Goderich and Guelph. It was the centre of Colborne Township embarking passengers and shipping livestck, grain and apples. In its heyday up to 20 trains a day passed this location. In 1960's passenger service was discontined because of decline of rail traffic. The station was demolished in 1964 but freight service continued until 1989. The entire line was abandoned in 1990 and rails were removed.

It is now used as a nature trail.
