This historic burying ground behind the Storrs Congregational Church includes gravestones of many ancestors of Charles and Augustus Storrs who in 1881 deeded land nearby for what became UConn. Check out the many other interesting gravestones including those of the Rev. Daniel Welch, an early minister, and his wife, Martha. The older part of the cemetery is laid out in typical colonial fashion, with graves marked by stones both at the head and at the foot.
The posted coordinates take you to the Freeman monument, erected in memory of members of the Storrs Brothers’ maternal family. About 30 feet north is the final resting place of Kezia Freeman, Charles and Augustus Storrs’ great great grandmother, who died two years prior to her husband, Edmund. To obtain coordinates for the final, find:
What year did Kezia die? ABCD
What day of the month did she die? EF
How many children did she have? GH
How many grandchildren did she have? IJ
How many great grandchildren did she have? KL
Final coordinates are at:
N DA D(A+B).BHC
W FIE KL.FJG
Please respect the memory of those buried here. Also, the cache does not involve moving gravestones or parts of the stone walls.
