This cache is one of five placed to celebrate the Boy Scouts 100th year of scouting. The Pillars of Scouting Outdoors — Working, playing, and living Outdoors, and learning to appreciate our world and our place in it remains essential to the Scouting experience.
For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century. The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives. Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
In addition to Outdoors, we’ve hidden four other caches highlighting Scouting programs. Find all five! Search ORVC, Pillars of Scouting.
If you are an Eagle Scout or involved with Boy Scout be sure to sign your name, what troop and council you were with, and what rank you got to. If it was Eagle let us know what year.
Please re-hide the cache were you found it and bring something to sign the log sheet.

B&O Railroad Tunnel Marker
The western mouth of the tunnel is directly beneath the marker.
Regarding B&O Railroad Tunnel. Main and Arch streets cross over the tunnel. Two small triangular plazas at opposite ends of the intersection end at the tunnel entrances and you can look down over either railing down to the former railbed below. The old B&O right-of-way through town is now a bicycle and walking trail.
The Bike Trail starts at either Bailey Mills (parking Coords) or at Arch St. in Barnesville. If you start at the parking cords, this trail runs along St. Rt. 147 and then goes under the streets of Barnesville ending up at a tunnel by Arch St, 39.59.270N & 081.10.496W
IF YOU GO TO GCVQB1, The Mad Cow has some information about this trail as he once had a cache hidden at the tunnel end.
