A simple cache in the only WiFi hotspot for miles. Being released for our Southern Vt Spring Break Event.
Jacksonville is one of those sadly neglected areas where there is NO cell service, and the only hi-speed internet is within 3 crow-miles of the Verizon station downtown. Outside of that, you are stuck with dial-up. But Hallelujah! there is now free WiFi in booming downtown Jacksonville - both at the General Store and the Whitingham Library.
I'm borrowing C&TH’s Hot Spot cache idea - thanks guys for the inspiration and the write-up below. And thanks to the Whitingham Library and Jacksonville General Store for providing free access.
"The goal is to try and put caches at places that have Wi-Fi so cachers can take advantage of the internet to log their finds or look up information about a cache. We hope that other cachers will do the same and place caches at other Hot Spots to help out of town cachers find Internet.
Wi-Fi is the common name for a popular wireless technology used in home networks, mobile phones, video games and more. Wi-Fi is supported by nearly every modern personal computer operating system and most advanced game consoles.
Wi-Fi can make access publicly available at Wi-FI hotspots provided either free of charge or to subscribers to various providers."
