Château de Picomtal
Le château de Picomtal, monument historique, est situé au village de Crots, à deux pas de la ville d'Embrun, d'où il domine le Lac de Serre-Ponçon.
Son histoire débute en 1080 par la construction d'une tour de guet édifiée par les Chevaliers d'Embrun, chassés par l'Archevêché. Par la suite, celle-ci a été consolidée en pierre au 13ème siècle et le premier château a été construit au 14ème siècle. Il s'est ensuite agrandi et il a pris sa forme définitive en 1505. Une restauration complète du bâtiment a été réalisée en 1999, avec des intérieurs styles 18ème et 19ème siècles, de même que le jardin a été reconstitué à partir des vestiges trouvés sur place.
In the heart of the southern French Alps, next to the town of Embrun, overlooking lake Serre-Ponçon, the Château de Picomtal welcomes you.
First a wooden tower was built in 1080 by the Knights of Embrun who had been exiled by the Archbishop. It was rebuilt out of stone in the 13th century end was expanded to its final contours around 1505. The château de Picomtal has a 16th century achitecture, 18th and 19th century interior decoration and a garden has been recreated based on old vestiges found on the grounds.
