Fenny Drayton is a village on the Leicestershire border. It is close to the crossroads with the A5 (the Roman road called Watling Street). The village is also crossed by another Roman Road.
The OrdSurvey state that nearby Lindley Hall Farm is the centre point of England.
Fenny Drayton was the childhood home of George Fox, founder of the Society of Friends. A monument to his memory is in the village.
The cache is a clip lock container hidden alongside the footpath out of the village towards Witherley.
As of March 2011 I am afraid that after finding this cache there is an unavoidable 0.8 mile walk to number 13. The previous number 13 had to be archived due to a disgruntled landowner (please keep to the path). I added another cache in later on to make up for it.
This is one of a series of 15 caches set on a circular walk encompassing the villages of Witherley, Ratcliffe Culey, Atterton and Fenny Drayton. The walk is almost totally country footpaths across grassland and crop fields. There are numerous stiles and areas with livestock so you may need to use your judgement regarding suitability for dog walking. The terrain is generally flat and easy going although caches were set out in the summer when reasonably dry so wellies are no doubt essential in the winter when paths will probably be muddy.
Almost all the caches are clip lock containers holding log book/small trinkets in straight forward hiding places with of course the odd exception. Whilst Geocachers can claim FTFs on individual caches the only real reward is to complete the whole circuit at one go and to this end we have placed an original ‘First to Complete’ Geocaching lego charachter in the final cache number 15. Please do not remove this character unless you have genuinely completed all 15 in one go.
