A hollow magnetic bolt is attached under a bench.
Park at May Road staging area at the end of Whipple Road in Union city. Enter Dry Creek Park and hike High Ridge Loop Trail toward the east. You will come to a small pond were Tolman Peak Trail starts. Continue on Tolman Peak Trail to were South Fork Trail starts. Continue on South Fork Trail to were the park border ends and the trail starts to go up toward Tolman Peak. There is a trail post and toward your right is a bench. The location is a 1.75 miles hike from the parking lot.
The steel support toward the right under the bench boards has the magnetic bolt. Its a 2 inch long, 1/2 inch bolt with a nut. Once you look under the bench, its in plain view. Take the nut off and inside is the log.
Bring tweezers and a pencil. Although I did see a pencil on the ground lost by someone while sitting on the bench. It may still be there.
