Es geschah vor etwa 300 Millionen Jahren.Die zuvor sedementierten Sandteilchen und Partikel,welche sich auf dem Meeresboden ansammelten wurden durch Verschiebung der Erdplatten von Norden und Süden derart zusammengedrückt,daß sie im oberen Bereich Falten bildeten.Im Rahmen dieses Prozeßes entstand das Rheinische Schiefergebirge.
Viele Millionen Jahre später beginnt sich das Gebirge zu heben.
Die gefalteten Schichten werden in Einzelschollen zerlegt.
All das kann man hier in diesem alten Steinbruch sehen.
Unterhalb der Falten sieht man eine schräge Linie, die die Stelle markiert , an der sich eine Falte über die andere schob.
Im Rahmen der Hebung des Eifelgebirges steigt Magma aus dem Erdinneren auf und es entstehen Vulkane.Man kann praktisch sagen,daß es sich hier um das Fundament der Eifelvulkane handelt.
Die Gesteinsfalten sind die Anfangs bzw.Schlußsehenswürdigkeit der Deutschen Vulkanstrasse
Gehe zu den Koordinaten und betrachte die Gesteinsfalten.
Um den Cache zu loggen erfülle folgende Bedingungen.
1. Nach wieviel Millionen Jahren kam es zur Hebung des Eifelgebirges.
2. Wie hoch ist der höchste Basaltblock, der hier den Beginn der "Deutsche Vulkanstrasse" markiert?
3. (Optional) Mache ein Bild von den Gesteinsfalten mit dir und/oder deinem GPS und poste es mit dem Log.
Achtung: Ein Foto einzustellen ist freiwillig und keine Pflicht.Ich freue mich aber immer wieder über schöne Bilder.

It happened about 300 Million years ago.The sand and the particles that deposited at the bottem of the sea has been pressed by the movement of the tectonic plates, so that they built wrinkles in the upper area.
By this process the "Rheinisches Schiefergebirge" was created.
Many million years later the mountains began to elevate.
The wrinkles has been broken to separate soils.
All this you can see in this ancient quarry.
Below the wrinkles you can see an oblique line that marks the point where one wrinkles moved each one over the other.
By the elevating of the Eifelmountains the magma began to erupt from the core of the earth and so the volcanoes has been built.You can say ,that you see here the fundament of the volcanoes of the Eifel.
The Wrinkles of stone are the starting and accordingly the finish attraktion of the "Deutsche Vulkanstrasse"
Go to the Coordinates and watch the wrinkles
To log the cache you must perform these conditions.
1. How many million years ago began the elevating of the Eifel mountains?
2. How is the hight of the biggest stone that marks here the beginning of the "Deutsche Vulkanstrasse"
3. (Optional) Take a picture of the wrinkles (quarry) with you and/or your GPS an post it in your log.
