Easy 2 mi trail (4mi round trip) to location with great views along the way.
One of our favorite spots and this cache (our first) was hidden in celebration of LI's birthday. Great views on clear days! We saw our first condor here playing in the updrafts of the mountains. Amazing!! A hard place to hide things but be prepared. This will be easy when found but has a twist. Dog friendly and a great summer hike, this spot has fantastic views at ~8800ft. The ~2mi one way hike (3hrs rnd trp?) can be done by mountain bike, horse back or on foot. Once considered a location for what was to become the Mt. Palomar Observatory, the only modern day element is the microwave tower. There are campgrounds nearby and can do an overnight with permit. The location can be windy and cold on even summer days late in the evening as well in spring and fall. The snow gates usually open in March but in April, the clouds could roll in early. So plan on being off the mountain by 16:00. Contents are more of a time capsule with tennis balls, golf balls and toys for kids. A picture of the LKI team is on the letter of introduction from a Paria Canyon hike. There is a picture display that we suggest you take, reload your pics and put in your next cache find.
