Geocache Description:

As an earthcache, there is no “box” or “container” to discover. Rather, with this cache, you discover something about the geology of the area. For more info, consult www.earthcache.org

This earthcache is fully handicap accessible.

This earthcache is only accessible from NORTHBOUND I-81 at the Welcome Center OR by getting off Exit three “Molly Pitcher Parkway” (Hwy 11) exit and then traveling south on Hwy 11. If you take the later route there is an open path through the fence directly behind the rest area, about 400 feet from the cords. However, this later route is NOT handicap accessible.

4. Post a picture of yourself and/or your GPS with your log with the welcome center building behind you. OR tell me what man made concrete object is within 20' of the earthcache. DO NOT show any of the pertinent information please!

This is the term used to classify what a mineral looks like in the light. You will need to examine the list below and successfully classify the boulder's "white streak" at your feet to fulfill one of the logging requirements
dull / earthy -- very dull
waxy -- like the surface of a candle
greasy / oily
pearly -- like a pearl, play of colors, light
silky -- has a shiny surface like a piece of silk cloth
glassy / vitreous -- looks like glass quartz, many rock-forming minerals
resinous -- looks like freshly-broken shellac, usually yellow-brown -
adamantine -- high luster, almost brilliant, "diamond-like"
sub-metallic -- silvery or metallic luster
metallic -- very shiny, like processed metals, highly reflective, opaque

History: This Earthcache is located in Pennsylvania about 1.1 miles north of the famous Mason-Dixon line that separates Pennsylvania and Maryland and historically slave colonies/states from free colonies/states. In fact, exit one exits onto Mason-Dixon road which follows this line through this portion of the countryside, ending in the small city park at Stateline.
