Fossiles Flussdelta
Die Fracht der Flüsse
Vor über 290 Mio. Jahren befand sich hier der Mündungsbereich eines Flusses in einen See. Der Fluss bildete ein sogenanntes Mündungsdelta. Es entstand dadurch, dass im Bereich der Mündung nach und nach Material aufgeschüttet wurde, das der Fluss mit sich führte. Dadurch sank die Fließgeschwindigkeit und der Fluss musste sich wegen der Ablagerungen mehrmals neue Wege suchen. Dadurch wurde sein Lauf labyrinthartig aufgespalten.
Hier in der Felswand sieht man eine dichte Abfolge kompakter Sandsteinbänke. Sie zeigen eine Parallelschichtung, die auf eine schnelle Ablagerung der Sedimente hinweist.

Fragen:
- Welchen Bereich des Deltas zeigt der hier sichtbare Aufschluss?
- Welche Deltas sieht man auf den beiden großen Fotos auf der Tafel?
- Bestimmt die Höhe über Meeresniveau am Fuß der Felswand. (Diese Info findet man nicht auf der Tafel.)
Begebt euch zum angegebenen Referenzpunkt und macht ein Foto von der Felswand. Ladet bitte dieses Foto zu eurem Log hoch. Es wäre schön, wenn Ihr oder etwas von Euch auf dem Foto zu sehen wäre. Dies ist aber eine Bitte und keine Bedingung.
Logs ohne vorherige Freigabe müssen wir leider löschen.
The cargo of the rivers
More than 290 million years ago at this point there was the mouth of a river into a lake. The river formed an estuarial delta. It was developed because in the area of the mouth material was raised which was taken along by the river. Therefore the flow velocity decreased and the river repeatedly had to find new ways because of the sediments. Thereby the course of the river was split like a labyrinth.
Here in the rock face you see a dense sequence of compact sandstone layers. They show a parallel layering that indicates a quick deposition of the sediments.

You will find an information board at the given coordinates. It will give you further information to answer the following questions. Please send us the answers to that questions through the mail function of our profile before logging and wait before we unlock you. In case of problems we will get in touch.
Questions:
- Which part of the delta can you see at the visible outcrop?
- Which deltas are shown on the two big photos on the information board?
- Determine the hight above sea level at the bottom of the wall. (This info cannot be found on the board.)
Walk to the reference point and take a picture of the wall. Please upload the photo to your log. It would be nice if you or something belonging to you would be seen on the photo but this is not a must.
Unfortunately we will have to delete logs without prior unlocking by us.
