Designed to be an easy find the cache is located right off of Jordan's Branch Trail. This would be and excellent cache for beginners or for people with small children. The hike in takes only a few minutes.
Park by Shelter #1 here: N37° 35.699' / W077° 28.404'
Follow the paved road to pick up Jordan's Branch Trail here: N37° 35.698' / W077° 28.544'
It is well marked by a sign.
The trail winds around quite a bit and you may be tempted to bushwhack but you should not have to.
The original inventory is as follows:
Log book and pen, Dog Treats (always bring your dog caching), Mardi Gras beads, McDonald's happy meal toy, chop sticks, a watch (not sure if it works), a patch, bandaids, underarm stuff (in case you're not feeling fresh), a key ring carabiner, the official rulebook for USPSA shooting and more...
***Updated 2014: I hid this cache almost 14 years ago and am amazed that is still getting traffic almost daily. I have since moved to Florida and have not been back in almost 10 years to visit the cache. Feel free to contact me and let me know if it needs maintenance.
*** Important note, GPS units do not work well in heavy tree cover! I hid tis in the winter when the leaves were on the ground, that's the best time to travel in the woods with a GPS. In summer, spring and fall you will find it much more challenging. Your GPS unit will seem to jump all over the place.
