“By Jove, Watson, I’ve got it!”

I was rudely aroused from deep slumber by Holmes’ shout. I had nodded off while pondering a clue from our latest case; an oddly familiar cryptogram, but somehow quite different from its predecessors.

“What have you got, Holmes?”

“The solution, Watson! I know where Abe Slaney hid the loot from the bank robbery!”

“So you’ve determined what the anomalous symbols are?”

“They are numbers Watson! Numbers!”

I looked again at the cryptogram, over which we had agonized for many hours:



“How ever did you deduce they were numbers, Holmes?”

“From this paper just delivered, sent over by Lestrade. He found it in the heel of Slaney’s boot!”



“And from this, you could tell the inconsistent symbols were numbers? How?”

Holmes smiled that cheeky little smile of his. “It was magic, Watson!”
