The Cache is in Metro Green Space. The terrain is rugged, so utilize game trails and the overgrown logging roads. Its a large ammo can. GPS may be spotty due to trees. Park near the gate on 190th or use Coordinates N.45.27.762 W 122.27.990. I wanted to place this cache to give people a taste of the kind of forest that once covered Gresham. You wont find a whole forest exactly as it was when settlers arrived here over 150 years ago, but you will see the last remnants of what it looked like back then. You'll see Huge overgrown stumps, giant sections of trees that loggers left behind, and most importantly, six old-growth Douglas Firs that were somehow spared long ago. Sadly enough, trees of this size were cleared out by loggers and farmers who didn't want Douglas Fir trees as big as 8 feet in diameter, or wiry vine maple shading their land claims. So they chopped them down, burned the stumps, and tilled the land for farming. Today, forests have grown back in some places, houses were built in others, but rarely will you see proof like this. These six giant trees are still living today, as they were before white settlers, when only Native Americans hunted these woods. The largest of these six measures 22' 9" in circumference at breast height. Thats about 7 feet across! I've never seen a bigger Douglas Fir anywhere near Gresham. These Firs are giant! You should be able to spot them all from around N45 27.722 W122 27.499.
