Treasures of Scouting
Celebrating Scouting Programs
The true treasures of Scouting are the values that it teaches
our youth, helping them grow with character and integrity. Through
Treasures of Scouting, we highlight Scouting values while getting
Scouts and non-Scouts excited about our programs.
For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become
more than they ever thought possible. And we will continue that
journey into the next century.
Cache to Cub Scouts: Arrow Of Light The highest award in
Cub Scouts is earned by Webelos that have been active participants
in their den and are ready to join a Boy Scout troop. Many of the
requirements for the Arrow of Light are intended to familiarize the
scout with a local troop and hopefully show him that crossing over
into a troop is the next step to take in scouting. A scout that
earns his Arrow of Light patch has also completed nearly all the
requirements to earn the Scout badge in the troop so he has already
begun his Boy Scout trail.
The cub scout program in the US began in 1930 and currently is
open to boys in 1st through 5th grade. The cub scouts offers fun
and challenging experiences that inspire confidence and teach
important values. Cub Scout Geocaching is an important addition to
the Scouting program.
This cache was placed by 'Akela Signal' (aka cacheseeker859) for
the Blue Grass Council. This cache is located on the property of
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with their permission.
The cache is an ammo can containing a log and trade items/swag.
This is an easy park & grab. Please be mindful of the
landscaping and do not change the location of the cache container.
This cache is next to an Eagle Project (24hrs/7days flag pole) done
by an Eagle Scout from Troop 103 several years ago. Please let us
know if the trade items/swag are running low or the log is full.
Please let a young child get the FTF on this cache!
This Arrow Of Light cache location was selected
especially to recognize the 15+ years of invaluable service Troop
103 has given to the Cub and Boy Scouts of the Blue Grass Council
area. They perform special Webelos/Arrow of Light ceremonies at
Webelos Woods, and when requested, special Crossover ceremonies
recognizing and celebrating the transitioning Webelos from Cub
Scouts into Boy Scouts. Troop 103 performs this all in full Indian
regalia and brings to their ceremonies a sense of excitement and
solemnity of the occasion, which is quite memorable for both the
scout and his parents & family.
Congrats to bkingx & their scout on the FTF!
