The San Francisco Bay Toll-Bridge, was built in 1929, and upon
completion was the longest bridge in the world (at that time) That
same year, 1929, Herbert Hoover ordered the Presidential Commission
to design another San Francisco bridge, and a few years later work
began on the Golden Gate Bridge, which opened to the public in
1937.
