Geocache Description:

Rubber Road has a long and checkered history in the subculture of geocaching. It all started way back in March of 2008, with GC1A2E7 , the first Rubber Road cache. The road is actually named DeWolf and then turns into Behymer, but it was unofficially dubbed “Rubber Road” by Doctor A, when she started this series. As that cache write-up explains, you’ll have to ask another local cacher for the story behind why the road was called that… but it has something to do with paraphernalia often spotted on this road and people perhaps fertilizing future caching generations?

There have been many caches hidden on Rubber Road, and it’s always interesting to take a cruise out to Rubber Road and see what’s going on out there- people go out there to do a wide variety of things, some of which are innocent, like walking their dogs or jogging or bike-riding or even learning to drive a stick shift car (Yep, Doctor A once got kind of upset when someone pulled up to a cache GZ and she thought she was going to be beaten to a find, but it turned out it was just a dad teaching his young daughter how to drive stick…), and some of which are not so innocent and shall remain nameless.

Doctor A also later learned that this area had another local nickname, that many Clovites seem to recognize- “the dikes”. Apparently quite a few errant youths and ne’er-do-wells have spent time out at “the dikes”… :)

So this cache gives you a chance to explore and discover “Rubber Road”. There are a couple of other caches along the road, so you can make a cache run out of it, maybe do some CITO’ing while you’re out there (be sure to wear gloves!), and just take a nice drive out on a beautiful country road.
