Armona Island Explorer is a fun trek across one of the most
beautiful islands of Southern Europe. The walk is just under 5 km,
and can only be done by foot as no other means of transport are
available/permitted on the island!
Ilha da Armona is a small island located in the Ria Formosa
National Park area, and can be reached by 15-minute ferry ride or 5
minute water-taxi ride from the fisherman city of Olhão.
The island is approximately 9 km long by 0.1-1km wide, and is the
home to many beach houses, making it a popular destination for
holiday makers. Armona has however managed to retain its beauty and
authenticity, and during this cache trail you will discover many
facets of this beautiful island, from the bustling arrival dock,
through rarely explored back streets, to its numerous empty sandy
beaches and pristine waters. In the Summer, resisting the
temptation to dive in the warm waters whilst doing this cache will
be a challenge!

Some of the photos below correspond to one of the 9 PHOTO waypoints
that can be found in the Additional Waypoints table.
For each of the PHOTO WP, note down the number on the photograph
that matches what you can see from the location of the WP. For
example, PHOTO1 = 5 (this is not the correct answer!).
At the WP labeled REF, you do not need to find a corresponding
photograph- these WP are merely provided to help you find your way,
and to show you additional interesting spots! WP11 is optional but
is a nice place for a swim- mind the currents though!
Please note the following points:
1) The first few waypoints are quite close together- as you get
further along though, the waypoints become more separated!
2) Private property does not need to be crossed or entered at any
stage of this multi-cache.
3) All waypoints should be accessible at either high or low
tide.

Algumas das fotografias abaixo correspondem a cada um dos 9
“PHOTO waypoints" que podem ser consultados na tabela de
WP’s, ou seja, das 16 fotografias apresentadas terá que
escolher as 9 correspondentes às coordenadas apresentadas na tabela
com a descrição “question to answer”.
Para cada um destes 9 pontos deve-se anotar o número da fotografia
cuja imagem se consegue observar desse ponto. Por exemplo: se na
coordenada da PHOTO1 conseguir ver a imagem 5 então PHOTO1 = 5
(atenção, este valor não é nenhumam resposta correcta)
No Waypoint denominado REF, não é necessário encontrar nenhuma
fotografia. Estes WP servem apenas para o ajudar a encontrar o
caminho até aos WP PHOTO# ou simplesmente para lhe mostrar locais
que consideramos importantes numa visita à ilha. O WP 11 é
opcional, mas constitui um excelente local para se refrescar num
banho de mar. Atenção às correntes marítimas.
Atenção:
1) Os primeiros pontos são muito próximos uns dos outros, no
entanto e na continuação da “expedição” os pontos serão
mais afastados.
2) Em nenhuma parte desta multi-cache será necessário invadir
propriedade privada.
3) Todos os WP são acessíveis quer com maré cheia, que com maré
vazia.
