Geocache Description:

Warning this letterbox is not at the posted coordinates. To find the box read the instructions below.

I placed this box to celebrate 10 years of geocaching in Utah since the day that Leaper64 placed his cache near Potters Pond. I was inspired by a letterbox placed at last years Geowoodstock in Bellbuckle, Tennessee. There is a stamp, I carved myself, commerating the 10 years since the placing of the first cache in Utah. Sociable geocachers my find it vaguely familiar. I also wanted to express the joy I have found in my new hobby of letterboxing.

This cache/letterbox is being listed not only on Geocaching.com but also on the popular letterboxing sites:Letter Boxing North America and Atlas Quest. I have placed two log books in the cache. One for letterboxers and one for geocachers. You are welcome to sign both logbooks. But if you sign the letterbox logbook, I ask you to please stamp the book. If you have a personal stamp use it. You can also stamp it with your finger print. One fun thing letterboxers sometimes do is to leave their fingerprint and then decorate it to look like something else.

One more thing. There are some trade items in the cache. But what ever you do. DON'T TAKE THE STAMP. It stays in the cache. This is true of all letterboxes. Unless specifically, instructed never trade for or take the stamp. This is the number one peeve letterboxers have against geocachers, taking their stamp. So leave it in the box.

This letterbox is a bit different than most of the letterbox/hybrids you are probably used to. Instead of giving you the coordinates of the box. I thought I would give you a taste of how traditional letterboxers do it. I have given you step by step instructions on how to find the box. These are listed below:

*** A bit of a update. Since I placed the box some beavers built a dam across the stream. So, you will definitely get you feet wet. There has been quite a lot of new vegetation growth over the past year. So you will have a little bit of a bushwack on the other side of the stream. And the stumps may be a bit hard to spot through the tall grass. But they are still visible. ***

Go to the posted coordinates. Start on the east side of the fence. Follow the fence north-east. Pass the large gap, where the fence has fallen down. Keep going until you come out of the trees. Soon after that you will see a narrow gap in the fence. Go through it. To your west you will see a brown tower. (It's a weather station!) Head toward it. You will be blocked by some high shrubbery. Head to your right until you see a gap. Go down and cross the creek. Continue heading toward the tower. Stop when you reach the power lines. Follow the power lines to your left. Stand between the poles. Walk forward about 20 normal walking steps. You will see a snaky look stump to your right. At the stump you will see more stumps further to your right. Go to the farthest stump. You will see one more stump by the bushes. The box is behind that stump.

After you are finished please replace the stamp and any logbooks you have signed in their original bag. Then reseal the bags. Remember you are sharing this box with traditional letterboxers and they like to keep their boxes nice and tidy.
